Our Journey is Fleming County Schools’ district-wide newsletter, shared weekly with students, teachers, staff, parents, and guardians. It serves as a clear and consistent line of communication that keeps our school community informed, connected, and aligned. Our Journey helps create a shared understanding of where we are, where we are headed, and why the work matters.

School Closed to Students

Traditional Faculty/Staff Workday

Schools are being used for the Primary Election in Kentucky

In Fleming County Schools every student leaves a mark. Some pass through quietly, while others shape the experience for those who follow. Our Student Leader Spotlight recognizes students who are not only achieving, but intentionally leaving footprints that matter. These students represent more than success in the moment. They demonstrate character, leadership, and a commitment to something greater than themselves. Through their actions, decisions, and daily choices, they are helping define what it means to be a student in Fleming County.

We often ask a simple but powerful question:
Fifty years from now, how do you want to be remembered?

The answers reveal something deeper than accomplishments. They speak to perseverance, integrity, faith, and the kind of impact that lasts beyond the classroom. As a district, we believe leadership is not about titles or recognition. It is about the footprints we leave behind. It is about how we influence others, how we respond to challenges, and how we carry our values into everything we do. Our Student Leaders are not just preparing for the future. They are shaping it, one step at a time.

In Fleming County Schools, we celebrate the creativity and talent of our K-12 students. From paintings and designs to choir, band, and drama performances, the arts are alive in every corner of our schools. Take a moment to explore this week’s featured work and help us celebrate the incredible ways our students are creating and expressing themselves.

Small Scale, Big Ideas: 8th Grade Architects Bring Design to Life

For this final project, the 8th-grade art students at Simons Middle School traded in their standard canvases for something a bit more three-dimensional: cereal boxes and found materials.

In our group STEAM-focused projects, students are stepping into the shoes of Interior Architects and Designers to create highly detailed 3D miniature rooms. The project challenges students to think critically about "Base Building Architecture", the structure and physics of a room, versus "Interior Decoration."

Using a mix of professional design principles and creative upcycling, students are tasked with transforming everyday recyclables into realistic living spaces. From turning toothpaste caps into modern lamps to using corrugated cardboard to mimic hardwood floors, the level of ingenuity on display is truly impressive.

These were more than just a "dollhouse"; students are learning:

- Scale and proportion

- Color and visual unity

- Floor plan drafting

- Sustainability through upcycling

They also drew inspiration from artists like Bridget McCarty and Danny Cortes and created artist statements to explain their choices. We’re so proud of their creativity and craftsmanship! Stay tuned for our FCHS and SMS Student Art Show on May 15th at the FCHS Multipurpose Room to see these tiny rooms on display!

Want to help out the SMS art department? We’re always collecting clean recyclables like bottle caps, fabric scraps, and small boxes for future projects!

Dear Fleming Countians,

With only two weeks remaining in the 2025-2026 school year, we are quickly approaching the finish line. Last week marked the beginning of Kentucky’s annual end-of-year state assessments (KSAs), which will continue throughout this week. In addition, Fleming County High School students are currently participating in Advanced Placement (AP) exams. Over the next several days, our schools will also begin hosting a variety of end-of-year events and celebrations, including awards nights, art shows, performances, and other activities that highlight the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our students throughout the year.

Just like last week, we need our students to remain focused and committed to finishing the school year strong academically. Parents and guardians, please take time this week to regularly check your child’s grades through Infinite Campus to ensure that assignments, projects, assessments, or exams have not been missed that could negatively impact final grades for the school year.

Every parent and guardian has access to Infinite Campus. If you are experiencing difficulty logging in, please contact your child’s school. School staff can assist you with login information, password resets, and any questions regarding access to your child’s information.

Furthermore, enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. Parents and guardians, please complete your child’s enrollment before the final day of school on Friday, May 22, 2026. Completing enrollment before the end of the school year is extremely important. Not only does it ensure that you receive important communication and updates throughout the summer regarding the upcoming school year, but it also allows schools to begin scheduling students into classes and preparing for the 2026-2027 school year.

Schools cannot finalize schedules for students who have not completed enrollment for next year. Every student planning to attend Fleming County Schools during the 2026-2027 school year must complete the annual enrollment process. This process must be completed each year for every student.

Enrollment can be completed quickly and easily through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal or the Infinite Campus App and typically only takes a few minutes. If you need assistance with enrollment, please contact your child’s school. By completing enrollment before Friday, May 22, 2026, families can avoid missing important summer communication and help schools better prepare for a successful start to the new school year.

Thank you for your continued support of Fleming County Schools.

Our Journey Continues…

n Fleming County, every graduate leaves footprints here. Over time, those footprints become the path that guides the students who follow.

In Fleming County Schools, End-of-Year (EoY) Presentations of Learning are authentic, student-driven exhibitions that showcase a student’s growth, mastery, and readiness. They serve as a culminating reflection of the learning journey across the school year. These presentations extend far beyond traditional final exams or year-end reviews. Instead, they are meaningful, public demonstrations of the knowledge, skills, and dispositions students have developed, aligned to the district’s Portrait of a Learner and the BRIDGE Performance Indicators (BPIs).

Local Accountability in Fleming County Schools focuses on what matters most, real learning and real growth. Through multiple measures and authentic student work, we support students, inform families, guide staff, and keep our community connected to how our schools are preparing every learner for the future.
